  3. This document fully describes the new features and fixes since Hotline
  4. Client 1.8.4 and Hotline Server 1.8.4.1.

  7. Who Should Update?
  8. ******************

  10. We encourage all to upgrade to the newest version to take advantage of
  11. the fixes that are detailed below. All users will benefit from the new
  12. "Confirm Quit" feature, which ensures that you'll never end up
  13. accidentally disconnecting from a server during a download again. Users
  14. who wish to register the Client to gain the benefits of the enhanced
  15. Toolbar will need to download 1.8.5 to do so. Finally, server
  16. administrators who did not upgrade their Server to 1.8.4.1 from 1.8.4
  17. should upgrade to fix the security loophole present in the 1.8.4 Server.

  20. New Features:

  23. **Enhanced Toolbar with Registration
  24. Client owners can buy a unique license number from Hotline
  25. Communications Ltd. Once the Client is registered, users will have an
  26. enhanced Toolbar that is resizable, bannerless, and that allows
  27. two-click bookmarking of the current Server.

  29. **Confirm Quit and Confirm Disconnect
  30. The program will prompt the user if the user attempts to quit while
  31. transferring files or connected to a server. The program will give the
  32. user the option to wait until downloads are complete, or to remain
  33. connected to the server.

  35. **Recoverable Private messages
  36. Users who send a message to a user who has just disconnected will see a
  37. message explaining this and containing the text of the message.

  39. **Limit on the number of connections per IP address
  40. Server owners can control the limit on the number of connections from a
  41. single IP address.

  44. Fixes in Version 1.8.5:

  47.  Issue: When a file transfer is in the queue, it sometimes fails to
  48. start when the queue count reaches "0".
  49.  Solution: Fixed so that the transfer starts when the transfer gets to
  50. "0" in the server queue.

  52.  Issue: When a folder transfer is cancelled and then resumed, the
  53. statistics displayed in the taskbar are incorrect.

  56.  Issue: When the Toolbar is minimized and the Client requests a banner
  57. that is larger than the current one, the new banner will not be
  58. displayed properly when the Client is restored.

  61.  Issue: A security loophole in the server. This server weakness could
  62. allow a malicious user to get a random set of privileges.

  65.  Issue: The tooltip associated with a view is not displayed properly
  66. when the view is inside a scroller.

  69.  Issue: On the Macintosh, all of the windows except the toolbar can be
  70. moved over the System Menu.

  73.  Issue: When a user sends a private message and disconnects before the
  74. receiving user is able to click the Reply button, the receiving user's
  75. Client gives the user no feedback about what has occurred.
  76.  Solution: When the user clicks the Reply button after the first user
  77. has disconnected, the following message will be displayed: "The user
  78. <user name> is no longer connected to the Server."
